Welcome all to a new, and certainly unique, year of learning and relationships with the Southern California Society of Dentistry for Children! It has been my pleasure to begin attending lectures with this group as a pediatric dental resident at UCLA, and working up the ranks to be able to serve as your President for this year.

 

These past few months have been unprecedented times in many respects, but we as healthcare professionals (much like our pediatric patients!) are a particularly resilient group and have adapted gracefully to the challenges presented to us. As such, our Executive Council has been working diligently behind the scenes to temporarily move our meetings to an online format.

 

In order to maintain our members’ unique opportunity to engage with friends and colleagues, our online lectures will have more intimate "Break-Out" Sessions prior to the start of the speakers’ lecture. Though no substitute like a steak dinner at Petrelli’s, we hope this new format provides a chance to catch up with friends, new and old, and to provide engaging and relevant information to your daily clinical practice.

We are also very excited to announce the launch of our beautiful new website! www.ChildrensDentalSociety.com  

The website will outline the speakers and dates for the year, membership and pricing information, and in the near future, the ability to pay for lectures online. I would like to particularly thank our very own Dr. Jennifer Villalta for her time and dedication to this project.

 

You will notice that we have reduced membership dues for this year, and the online C.E. will be at a reduced cost as well. We strongly encourage pre-payment for each lecture on our website, in order to facilitate a smooth and timely session. Those who pay at least a day in advance of the first lecture will be entered into a raffle to win a $30 Amazon giftcard! We will also be waiving online lecture fees for our pediatric dental residents in order to encourage their participation.

The 2020-2021 year of C.E. will have 5 lectures, as we missed this past Spring session. Our first session on August 18 at 6:30pm PST via "LIVE ZOOM" format, will be by the esteemed, Dr. Juan F. Yepes, "We Are All In The Same Storm Together: Infection Control in the Corona Virus Times". He will be providing pertinent information on keeping our patients, teams, and ourselves safe in this new climate. Please join us TUESDAY, AUGUST 18 at 6:30PM, for our "VIRTUAL SOCIAL TIME" with virtual breakout rooms, followed by the lecture at 7pm PST.

Please pass the word to colleagues that may not have been able to attend lectures in the past due to distance or timing constraints, as WE HOPE TO EXPAND OUR MEMBERSHIP TO ALL who our dedicated to serving the oral health needs of children.
